Identifying Euglena Gracilis Metabolic and Transcriptomic Adaptations in Response to Mercury Stress

چکیده

Mercury contamination in aquatic systems poses a serious environmental stress to phototrophic plankton. We used Euglena gracilis gain an understanding of the physiochemical changes resulting from mercury across transcriptome and metabolome. Using combination Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometry (FT-ICR-MS) RNA-sequencing, we identified metabolomic transcriptomic both within outside cellular space after exposure. Metabolic profiles E. were less diverse exposure, highlighting overall refinement metabolites produced. Significant fold cysteine, glutathione, amino acid-based significantly higher ( p < 0.05) exposed cells extracellular than untreated cultures. integrated omics analyses, significant upregulation transcripts involved acid synthesis, responses chemical stress, reactive oxygen species detoxification, electron transport identified. Together enrichment these pathways highlights mechanisms that harness mitigate oxidative at sublethal concentrations exposure give rise new biomarkers widely distributed gracilis.

Metabolic adaptations to arsenic-induced oxidative stress in Isatis cappadocica. Naser Karimi* and Zahra Souri

Arsenic is considered as one of the most important environmental contaminant elements. Some plant species can grow in arsenic contaminated soils and they are able to reduce arsenic toxicity. In this study, a hydroponic experiment was conducted on Isatis cappadocica, a newly-discovered As hyperaccumulator. Accordingly, we conducted this experiment to compare the interaction of effect of arsenic ...

Dictyosome Structure in Euglena Gracilis

Dictyosomes are active in the segregation and/or synthesis of material for export from the cell (11). Product destined for export accumulates in vesicles attached to the cisternal tubules (12). These secretory vesicles may contain a variety of products, depending upon their immediate role in cellular metabolism. This heterogeneity is reflected in the appearance of the secretory vesicles and in ...

The Mitochondrion of Euglena gracilis.

In the presence of oxygen, Euglena gracilis mitochondria function much like mammalian mitochondria. Under anaerobiosis, E. gracilis mitochondria perform a malonyl-CoA independent synthesis of fatty acids leading to accumulation of wax esters, which serve as the sink for electrons stemming from glycolytic ATP synthesis and pyruvate oxidation. Some components (enzymes and cofactors) of Euglena's ...

Chloroplast.Free Preparation from Euglena gracilis'

A bstract. A supernatant fraction, free of plstids, was prepared by centrifugation from Euglena gracilis and used to ascertain whether or not the inhibition of carbon dioxide fixation by oxygen, known as the Warburg effect, is entirely independent of the light-driven phase of photosyn-thesis. This fraction exhibited in the dark the main features of the Werburg effect; namely, an inverse relatio...
